Belkis Plata Speaks for the Faggart Family After Charles’s Funeral

As family and friends gathered for a private funeral for Charles Faggart, Belkis Plata spoke on the family’s behalf. She said the family had cooperated with the Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney, and the FBI but had received no updates or timeline, and had learned what happened to Charles at the same time as the rest of the community.

Days later, Jacksonville Today reported that medical records contradicted a police report’s claim about fentanyl. Belkis said medical professionals the family consulted found no fentanyl in Charles’s system when he was admitted to the hospital, and noted that the claim came from officers who are themselves under investigation.
