After a Jacksonville woman was charged for buying thousands of dollars in fraudulent coupons, News4JAX asked Shannon Schott to explain the stakes. Shannon, who is not involved in the case, said people accused of coupon fraud often don’t see themselves as criminals and may not understand that federal charges are possible.
She explained that the losses hit retailers’ thin margins and ultimately employees, and that retailers track coupon fraud and will prosecute or sue.
